2016 Best Surf Resort at South Asia Travel Awards
|Established by the late Tony Hussein Hinde, Atoll Adventures was the first specialist surf tour operator in the Maldives and founded surf tourism in the region. 2016 was the 25th year of their surf-based operations on the island of Kanuoiy Huraa (Pasta Point); originally Tari Village and now Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives.
On November 16 in a ceremony at the plush Mount Lavinia Hotel in Sri Lanka, Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives was awarded the Leading Surf Hotel / Resort in the South Asia Region at the inaugural South Asian Travel Awards.
Atoll Adventures is now managed by Ashley Hinde and Dara Ahmed, who’s a veteran of 20 years at Pasta Point. They’ve maintained the high standards of service with an appropriately limited number of surfers booked at any time. An all Maldivian ISA accredited staff of surf guides and local boat crews keep the guests happy, and returning – with some regulars now chalking up 15+ years straight.
The prominent Sri Lankan company of John Keells took over the resort in 2006 and over the past ten years has progressively raised the standard of the resort and services.
Atoll Adventures and Cinnamon Dhonveli represented at the awards by Mr. Jayantissa Kehelpannala (Head of Maldivian Resorts), Mr. Nalinda Liyanage (G.M.), Mr. Hassan Shihab (Front Office) and Mr. Dara Ahmed (Atoll Adventures Director).
